Setting up an Evaluation

First Steps

You can contact Envision Hope Pediatric and the initial process will entail a parent interview on the phone to discuss your child and the issues of concern.  A time will then be set up for the treating therapist to perform the evaluation.  The initial assessment will last about an hour to an hour and a half.

What to Expect

Evaluation

  • Each evaluation utilizes objective and standardized measures, whenever possible. In addition to the formal assessment of your child, we also want to hear from you, the parents.  Nobody knows your child better than you do, and your perceptions and observations are an invaluable component in developing an effective treatment plan.
  • Evaluations vary from child to child, depending on age, capabilities, or physical or mental development.  However, every evaluation is conducted in a manner that minimizes stress for the child.  We hope the evaluation is an experience that the child enjoys.
  • Some children will need information about the evaluation ahead of time.  We recommend that you tell them that we will be playing games with them.  You can tell older children that we want to see how they use their eyes, hands, and muscles.  Please reassure your child that this will be a fun experience.  It can helpful to show the child pictures of the therapist and of the therapy facility.
  • Upon completion of the evaluation, the therapist will discuss any areas of suspected delay with you and make recommendations for therapy.
  • The parent conference will be set up approximately one week later to go over the written results of the evaluation.
  • On-going therapy sessions may be scheduled at this time.  We will do our best to accommodate your scheduling needs and to coordinate multiple disciplines if this is necessary.
  • We strongly encourage all parents and/or caregivers to share with us personal goals for your child in order for us to all collaboratively achieve his/her optimal developmental in all environments.

The First Therapy Session

  • Payments for therapy, including all co-pays, co-insurance, and deductibles will be collected at the time of service.
  • During your child’s therapy session, most of our parents remain in the waiting room.
  • Typically, children participate at a greater level and/or transition more easily between activities without their parent present.
  • If a parent has a preference with remaining with the child during a therapy session, we will do our best to make accommodations for the parent to be present.
  • If a parent wishes to leave the facility while their child is in session, please ensure that all contact information is up-to-date.
  • We request that you return within adequate time to meet with your child’s therapist to review their progress and suggested home activities.

INSURANCE

  • We are in network with BCBS and file out of network with most insurance companies.
  • Most insurance policies and plans cover Occupational Therapy & Speech Therapy treatment.
  • Envision Hope is considered out of network for all other insurances, but we can assist you with filing your medical claims and getting reimbursed for therapy.
  • Out of network benefits are typically just a bit higher than in network.
  • Payments for therapy, including all co-pays, co-insurance, and deductibles will be collected at the time of service.
